Tems Breaks Boundaries with Historic Grammy Nominations

Written by on November 11, 2024

Nigerian R&B superstar Tems has made history with her remarkable achievement of securing three nominations for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. With these nominations, Tems becomes the highest-nominated Nigerian artist at the 2024 Grammys, marking a major milestone in her career.

Tems has earned nominations in some of the most prestigious categories, including Best African Music Performance, Best Global Album, and Best R&B Song. This achievement solidifies her status as one of the most influential artists in the global music scene.

One of the standout moments in Tems’ Grammy journey is her debut album, ‘Born In The Wild’, which has earned a nomination for Best Global Album. This makes Tems the first Nigerian female artist to have a Grammy-nominated album.

Additionally, her single ‘Burning’ earned her a nomination in the Best R&B Song category, making her the first African artist to receive a nod in this prestigious category.

Tems also made history as the first African female lead artist nominated outside the global categories, showcasing her widespread appeal and influence in both African and international music markets.

With these three nominations, Tems extends her record for the most Grammy nominations for a Nigerian female artist, bringing her total to an impressive six nominations. This places her as the second Nigerian artist with the most nominations in a single Grammy year, following Burna Boy’s record-setting four nods at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Tems’ groundbreaking achievements at the 67th Grammys not only showcase her immense talent but also highlight the global impact of Nigerian music, cementing her legacy as one of the foremost artists of her generation.
