Rihanna issues legal warning over Donald Trump using her music at rallies

Written by on November 6, 2018

Rihanna has issued a cease-and-desist letter ordering Donald Trump to stop playing her music at his rallies.

The pop star had been alerted that the US president had played her 2007 hit “Don’t Stop The Music” at an event in Tennessee on Sunday.

Rihanna’s lawyers fired off the cease and desist letter to Trump’s legal team after he played “Don’t Stop the Music” at his Sunday rally in Chattanooga.

Her legal team has now sent an official letter to the White House.

The document states: “It has come to our attention that President Trump has utilised (Rihanna’s) musical compositions and master recordings, including her hit track Don’t Stop The Music, in connection with a number of political events held across the United States.”

The popstar, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, became aware of the unauthorised use of her music when Washington Post reporter Philip Rucker tweeted about it.

She responded: “Not for much longer…me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up philip!”
