Afrobeats star Rema has shared a bold opinion on family dynamics in Nigeria. According to him, parents tend to go easier on children who contribute financially to the household.

In a conversation with his friend Enzo, Rema said, “Once you’re a breadwinner, parents are less likely to advise or scold you.”

This belief comes from his personal journey. After losing his father at a young age, Rema became the main provider for his family. He revealed that he made his first million at just 17 and gave it to his mother.

Because of this experience, he believes financial independence can shift how parents treat their children.

Enzo then shared his own story. His mother disapproved of him getting braids and refused to speak to him for days. He also mentioned that she wouldn’t allow him to get a tattoo.

In response, Rema encouraged him to stay focused and work harder. “Don’t worry,” he said. “You just need to hustle a little bit more. Wait till you cash out big. Nigerian parents don’t advise breadwinners.”

This conversation has sparked discussions online. Many young Nigerians relate to the idea that money often changes the way parents react to personal choices.
