People laughed at me for calling myself a ‘Jesus boy’ – Spyro

Afrobeats artist Spyro has marked a major milestone by dedicating his new home, using the moment to share a deeply personal message about overcoming criticism, holding onto faith, and rising from rejection to success.

People laughed at me for calling myself a ‘Jesus boy’ – Spyro

Spyro took to Instagram to reflect on his journey, revealing how just two years ago, he was written off by many in the industry. Critics not only questioned his sound but also ridiculed his bold devotion to Jesus, suggesting he wouldn’t last long in a space known for its fast-paced, competitive nature.

“People laughed at me for calling myself a ‘Jesus boy,’” Spyro shared. “Someone even told me to check if anyone ever made it in this industry while openly representing Christ.”

Despite the discouragement, Spyro stayed true to his beliefs. He remained committed to both his craft and his spiritual path—leaning on faith during times of doubt. That unshakable resolve, he says, is what carried him through the storm.

Now, with a new house and a growing career, Spyro is living proof that faith and focus can lead to breakthrough. In his words, God took him “from point zero to fullness.” The transformation, he added, still feels like a dream.

“Sometimes I still feel like I’m dreaming,” he wrote. “Owning properties? Living like this? Me—the same person people said wouldn’t make it?”

In his post, Spyro also offered encouragement to others who might be struggling.

“If you’re reading this and you’re tired, please don’t give up. Run to Him and STAY with Him. He never fails.”

Spyro described God as “Oranmonise Fayati,” a Yoruba phrase meaning “the One who sends and stands by the person He sends.” His testimony is not just about material success—it’s a message of hope, meant to uplift anyone feeling discouraged or overlooked.

As the singer continues to make waves in the Afrobeats scene, his story serves as a bold reminder: staying rooted in purpose and faith can defy expectations—and silence the loudest critics.
