“My Music should be used for a greater good.”- Cobhams Asuquo.
102.3 MaxFM OAP Real Skillz on the popular radio show MaxHits, alongside Shine Begho, was on a live chat with musician, songwriter, and Nigerian ambassador for UNICEF, Cobhams Asuquo.
When asked how he feels to be an ambassador for UNICEF, Cobhams stated that it really is an exciting opportunity.
He said, “I’ve always thought that my music should be used for a greater good and I think that it allows. This position allows me to bring important and sensitive issues, as well as the right of children, to the table, so it is really exciting for me.”
Asked about the surge in rape cases, observed in Nigeria – and what plans are being put in place to sensitize people and to protect children from domestic abuse and rape – Cobhams disclosed that, “for an organization like UNICEF, this is a conversation that is constantly happening. It might not be brought to the attention of the public, because of what’s going on in the country, however, there have always been conversations about it”.
According to him, UNICEF is constantly working hard to inform and update people on any forms of abuse.
