The late Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, has been honored with a posthumous Grammy Award for Best Audiobook, Narration, and Storytelling Recording. Carter’s award-winning audiobook, Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration, features his final Sunday school lessons in Georgia, where he reflects on themes of love, kindness, forgiveness, and the afterlife.

Released in August 2024, the audiobook also includes musical contributions from renowned artists such as Darius Rucker, Jon Batiste, and LeAnn Rimes, adding depth and emotion to Carter’s profound teachings.

Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, accepted the award on his behalf, acknowledging the importance of the recognition for his grandfather’s enduring legacy.

This posthumous Grammy win adds to Carter’s previous Grammy successes, which include Faith – A Journey for All (2019), A Full Life: Reflections at 90 (2016), and Our Endangered Values: America’s Moral Crisis (2007). Over the course of his career, Jimmy Carter received 10 Grammy nominations and won four, solidifying his lasting impact on both politics and the arts.
