Veteran Nigerian Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam1, has publicly criticized his longtime mentor, Ayinla Kollington, for failing to offer support during his time of grief.
Kwam1 Accuses Kollington of Betrayal Over Mother’s Burial
Kwam1 lost his mother on January 18, 2025, and buried her that same day in line with Islamic customs. Despite the magnitude of his loss, the Fuji icon claims Kollington neither called nor showed up to pay condolences.
During a recent interview, Kwam1 expressed deep disappointment over the situation. He reminded fans of how he personally supported Kollington during the burial of his mother years ago.
“I was there when Alhaji Kollington lost his mother,” Kwam1 stated. “I didn’t just show up—I handled all the expenses. I invited top dignitaries, including governors, and made sure his mother got a befitting burial.”
Kwam1 said the silence from someone he once looked up to feels like betrayal.
“Look at how he treated me in return,” he lamented. “He was in Nigeria, healthy and available, but he didn’t show up. His excuse? That he called and I didn’t pick. Is that enough reason not to reach out again?”
