D’banj: “Don Jazzy and I Still Maintain Positive and Professional Relationship”

Legendary Nigerian singer Dapo Oyebanji, popularly known as D’banj, has teased fans with the possibility of reuniting with his former partner and collaborator, Don Jazzy, to fulfill the public’s long-standing desire for a Mo’hits Records reunion.

Speaking on the potential comeback, D’banj shared that it’s the “right time” to give fans what they’ve been asking for. The iconic duo previously ran Mo’hits Records before parting ways in 2012. Don Jazzy then established Mavin Records, which has become one of Nigeria’s most influential record labels. D’banj revealed, “The trailer of my album last year had Don Jazzy in it. We know the people want that, and we’re going to give it to them. It’s not just about the Mo’hits reunion, but also about celebrating Afrobeats globally.”

D’banj’s New Ventures and CREAM Platform Success

In addition to the reunion talk, D’banj discussed his recent ventures, including signing comedian and singer Nasboi and rising star Berri Tiga as ambassadors for his CREAM platform. He emphasized that Nasboi’s journey—starting as a musician before evolving into a comedian and returning to his music roots—perfectly aligns with the values of CREAM, which encourages self-discovery and talent development.

“Nasboi embodies what the platform stands for: evolving and chasing your dreams independently,” D’banj explained. “Berri Tiga is another success story. He uploaded his song to the platform as a teenager, and today, he’s one of our biggest success stories.”

Upcoming Projects: Deluxe Album and Remixes

On the music front, D’banj shared exciting plans for his fans, including the release of a deluxe version of his 2024 album. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming acceptance of his last project, adding that he’s received numerous requests to remix his old songs. The deluxe album will feature new renditions and possibly collaborations with emerging talents from his CREAM platform.
