Blaqbonez, known for his unflinching confidence, stated that while not every artist is destined for lasting success, he is certain of his continued relevance in the music scene. This assertion comes with a look back at his own challenges, including a moment in 2017 when an unnamed up-and-coming rapper mocked him in a freestyle after signing with Olamide’s YBNL Nation.

In a recent series of tweets, Blaqbonez recalled how the rapper used his name in a freestyle, predicting that he would never succeed in the industry. Though Blaqbonez did not explicitly name the rapper, many fans have speculated that he was referring to Limerick, a former YBNL signee.

Blaqbonez tweeted, “Because you got a deal before me, you added my name to your freestyles, ‘you no go ever blow like Blaqbonez,’ all because Olamide signed you, you thought he was God, abi??”

He continued, addressing the rapper directly, “I pray you see these tweets and reflect on your life, at how quick you were ready to sh*t on people. We were in rap battle groups together for years, but as soon as they signed you, it was time to disrespect my work ethic and everything because you saw into the future and knew I was never going to blow up, right?”

In a powerful message to his followers, Blaqbonez added, “Not every kind of talent fits last for years. I know who I am, and I will be here for as long as I want to be. The music I make, nobody can make it. I have fans who have been there since the very beginning—not the ones who discovered me with ‘Bling’ or any of that. The ones I’m talking about know themselves.”

Blaqbonez’s remarks serve as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the music industry, where talent alone doesn’t guarantee success. His unwavering belief in his own journey and the loyalty of his long-time fans have positioned him as one of the most self-assured voices in Nigerian music today.

As the rapper continues to grow in prominence, his words resonate with aspiring artists everywhere, encouraging them to keep pushing forward despite the hurdles they may face.
