Ever since the Coronavirus pandemic began – particularly during this lockdown which has curtailed the movement of many – people have been depending on online platforms to get their news. Some have been receiving broadcast
messages, as well, and it’s been quite difficult to determine which news is authentic and which news is fake.
102.3 Max FM OAP, Debola Ajiboye, popularly known as Debby – on the Max Breakfast show – was on a live Instagram video with Gina London, an Emmy-winning veteran who is now an internationally recognized speaker and communications consultant.
When asked how journalists could identify real and authentic information, the former CNN correspondent and anchor said:
“As a professional journalist, you need to check the source of your information; check if your stories are verified, check who is actually speaking, Google about the person speaking or the source of the information…”
She further said, “A good broadcaster has to do research”
