Arsene Wenger claims Gunners left their ‘soul’ at Highbury 

Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has claimed that his former club left their soul behind at the Highbury stadium due to the club’s performances in all competitions since then.

Since the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pirez, Kolo Toure and others won the Premier League title in 2002, Arsenal has not lifted the trophy till today.

It was also at the Highbury stadium that Arsenal got to the final of the 2005/06 Champions League final where they lost 2-1 against Spanish giants Barcelona.

Wenger who was in charge of the Arsenal team that lost the Champions League final against Barcelona has now made it clear that the Gunners have not found their soul at the Emirates.

Arsenal moved to the Emirates stadium in 2006, and Wenger is now of the opinion that something big was forgotten at Highbury.

The Gunners used the Highbury stadium for 93 years before they left, but they have failed to replicate the success they enjoyed in their former house.

The four stands at the Highbury stadium then were close to the pitch where Arsene Wenger won the Premier League title three times.

After leaving Arsenal, Arsene Wenger was replaced with Spaniard Unai Emery who also failed to make any significant changes at Arsenal which forced the club to sack him.

The board appointed former player Mikel Arteta who is also currently struggling at the Emirates as the Gunners occupy 10th position on the standings.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted that it would be a “dream” to manage Premier League side Manchester United.

Wenger has been out of a job since quitting the Gunners in 2018, thereby ending his 22-year reign at the helm of affairs at the north London club.
