Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has revealed that Nigerian music industry gatekeepers did everything in their power to hold back his career. His claims came after reacting to a viral video where veteran music executive Obi Asika shared how some industry figures tried to frustrate Burna Boy’s rise, but he ultimately bypassed them and achieved international success.
Music Industry Tried to Break Me – Burna Boy
In a comment under the viral video posted on Instagram, Burna Boy shared his experience, saying, “This is not even half of the story. They did everything they possibly could to break me. They are still trying their best. Lol. But all they did was create this unquenchable fire that will continue to burn them for eternity.”
Burna Boy first captured national attention with his hit song, Like To Party, from his debut album L.I.F.E (Leaving an Impact for Eternity). However, the years that followed saw his career encounter several setbacks, with Burna relegated to the underground scene. Despite the challenges, he refused to be broken.
