Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has found himself at the center of a social media storm following a birthday tribute he posted to fellow actress Omoni Oboli.
Fans Slam RMD for Sharing Intimate Birthday Photo with Omoni Oboli
The Instagram post, which featured a photo of the two actors in what many interpreted as a romantic embrace, quickly went viral — but not for the reasons RMD may have hoped.
In the image, RMD and Oboli appear closely locked in a warm, intimate pose. While some fans brushed it off as a harmless throwback from a movie set, others saw it as crossing a line — especially considering that both actors are married and have grown children.
“Of all the countless photos of Omoni Oboli, you choose to use this as a birthday picture?” one Instagram user, @Bignamek, commented. “This is not nice, sir. I know it’s probably from a movie set, but bringing make-believe into reality like this is not good.”
Another fan, @KKendobaz, added:
“Na person wife you hold like that dey wish am happy birthday? Nawa o!”
The post has since sparked debate online about professional boundaries, public perception, and the blurred lines between on-screen roles and real-life behavior. Many critics argue that a respected figure like RMD should have opted for a more neutral image, especially given his status in the industry.
