The 29-year-old singer opened up about how his decision to get tattooed caused emotional pain to his father, who has not been able to accept it.
“One thing that I would do that can break my dad’s heart? I think I already did — my tattoos,” Fireboy confessed.
“Whenever he comes to visit me, I’m always on jalabiya, fully covered. Because tattoos, they break his heart every time he sees them.”
While Fireboy’s father appears to have no issue with his piercings, the singer says tattoos remain a sensitive subject that continues to create distance between them.
“My dad doesn’t have a problem with my piercing, but these tattoos? He will never forgive me for these things.”
Despite his father’s disapproval, Fireboy DML maintains a strong personal connection to body art. He explained,“Even if I had ended up as a banker, I would still have tattoos. It is not even about being an artist for me, I’m just that kind of person. I see it as an art.”
For Fireboy, tattoos are more than skin-deep. He views them as a creative expression that gives him a unique presence, even in the simplest outfits.
“Sometimes, I want to be shirtless and still look like I’m dressed up. I want to wear a singlet and step into a place and still have presence. That is what tattoos are to me.”
