Nigerian travel content creator Alma Asinobi is gearing up for an extraordinary adventure as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all seven continents, aiming to complete the journey in just 60 hours. Her record attempt begins on March 15, and she plans to spotlight the challenges faced by Africans with low-mobility passports throughout her journey.

In a heartfelt announcement, Asinobi stated, “On March 15th, in just a few days, I’ll be flying from Antarctica all the way to Australia, stepping foot on every continent in between to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘Fastest Time to Visit All Seven Continents.’ I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to shed light on the issue of passport privilege, or in our case… the lack thereof.”
Having personally navigated the frustrations of applying for multiple visas—only to face numerous rejections—Asinobi’s journey will see her take nine flights and endure seven short layovers. To successfully break the record, she must go beyond airport boundaries on each continent and meticulously document her entire experience.
“When I fully recover from having to apply for 10+ visas for this, and being rejected for 2 of them a total of 5 times, I’ll share more about why we cannot remain silent about the second-class treatment we face in travel and visa requirements,” she added. “I’m pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world on this adventure to show you what’s possible and inspire you to see the world regardless of limitations.”
Asinobi encourages followers to stay updated on her journey using the hashtags #AlmaChasingContinents and #7in70. “Follow me @almaasinobi for behind-the-scenes preparation and first-hand updates from Antarctica to Australia and back to Lagos, Nigeria,” she said.
The rules for breaking the record are stringent: Asinobi must visit each continent beyond airport confines, collect evidence, and document every step of the way with precise timing and no room for error. Her attempt comes at a crucial time when the issue of passport privilege remains a significant barrier for African travelers. Reports indicate that many Africans face substantial challenges, including strict visa requirements and lengthy processing times.
Asinobi’s record attempt serves as a powerful statement on the need for greater awareness and understanding of the struggles faced by African travelers. “I just refreshed the GWR page for our record, and someone just broke the record in 64 hours two weeks ago. New mission: 7 continents in 60 hours,” she concluded.
With her ambitious goal and commitment to shedding light on a critical issue, Alma Asinobi is poised to inspire countless others while challenging the status quo for African travelers
