In a video message shared on his social media platforms, Igosave expressed his shock at the superior data services he experienced in the UK. “This is the third time I’ve gone to top up my phone in the UK and been told I still have data. I’m in shock because I bought just 20 gigabytes three weeks ago, and it’s still working perfectly. It’s even very fast,” he stated.

Igosave went on to highlight the glaring difference between the UK and Nigeria’s data services, pointing out that in the UK, 20 gigabytes lasts a full month, while a 50 gigabyte plan in Nigeria doesn’t even last three days.

The comedian expressed his frustrations, calling for a thorough investigation into the practices of Nigeria’s telecom providers by authorities like the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). He questioned how Nigerian telecom companies could justify charging exorbitant rates for unreliable and short-lasting data services, especially considering the country’s low minimum wage.

“This is a clarion call to the Nigerian government, NCC, EFCC, ICPC to investigate all the telecom providers. Internet providers in Nigeria are ripping Nigerians off. There’s no difference between them and internet fraudsters. How much is the minimum wage in Nigeria that they are charging so much for data that doesn’t last?” Igosave added.

His remarks have sparked a wave of online discussion, with many Nigerians agreeing with his concerns about the high cost and poor quality of internet services in the country. The comedian’s call for action has resonated with citizens frustrated by the rising costs of telecommunications services, and many are now calling for greater accountability and regulation within the sector.

Igosave’s message serves as a reminder of the need for more effective consumer protection and oversight in Nigeria’s telecom industry.
