BIG WINNERS AT THE BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS 2022

In celebration of music’s most chart-topping artistes, the 2022 Billboard Music Awards held recently in Las Vegas with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs serving as the host and executive producer of the event.
Aside from the big wins, there were also various performances from Silk Sonic, Ed Sheeran, Travis Scott, Megan Thee Stallion, Teyana Taylor, Bryson Tiller, and even our own Burna Boy, amongst other artistes.
The performance by Burna Boy at the awards was a historic one, as he became the first Nigerian to perform on the Billboard Awards stage.
Drake. who won the ‘Top Artiste’, ‘Top Male Artiste’, ‘Top Rap Artiste’, ‘Top Rap Album’ with “Certified Lover Boy”, and ‘Top Rap Male Artiste’ category out of his ten nominations.
Kanye West also won the ‘Top Christian Artiste’ category, ‘Top Christian Album’ with “Donda”, ‘Top Gospel Artiste’, ‘Top Gospel Album’ with “Donda”, “Top Christian Song” with “Hurricane”, and also the ‘Top Gospel Song’ with the same song “Hurricane.”
The ‘Top R&B Song’ category which had our very own Wizkid with the song “Essence” was won by Silk Sonic with “Leave the Door Open”, a category which also had Doja Cat, The Weeknd, Giveon, and Justin Bieber with Peaches.
Other winners include Doja Cat in the ‘Top R&B Female Artiste’ category, ‘Top R&B Artiste’, ‘Top Viral Song’ with “Kiss Me More” ft. SZA, and ‘Top R&B Album’ with “Planet Her.”
Lil Nas X won in the ‘Top Rap Song’ category with “Industry Baby” ft. Jack Harlow, Megan Thee Stallion won the ‘Top Rap Female Artiste’ category,
While Olivia Rodrigo won the ‘Top New Artiste’ category, the ‘Top Female Artiste’ category, the ‘Top Hot 100 Artiste’, the ‘Top Streaming Songs Artiste’ category, the ‘Top Radio Songs Artiste’, the ‘Top Billboard Global 200 Artiste’ category, and the ‘Top Billboard 200 Album’ respectively for her album “Sour”, amongst many other winners.
