BIG WINNERS AT THE 2021 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

Big wigs of the American music industry were in attendance at the forty-ninth American Music Awards whichĀ  held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The event which was hosted by American rapper Cardi B saw major wins for various artistes.

Some of the big winners on the night includes the Asian K-pop music group, BTS winning the biggest category of the night, ā€˜The Artist of the Year’, ā€˜Favorite Pop Duo or Group’, and ā€˜Favorite Pop Song’ for their smash hit, ā€˜Butter’.

Doja Cat won three American Music Awards for ā€˜Favorite Female R&B Artist’, ā€˜Favorite R&B Album’ and ā€˜Collaboration of the Year’, while Megan Thee Stallion won awards for ā€˜Favorite Female Hip Hop Artist’, ā€˜Favorite Hip Hop Album’ and ā€˜Favorite Trending Song’.

 

Pop newcomer Olivia Rodrigo had the most nominations at the event with seven nods but went home with one win in the coveted ā€˜New Artist of the Year’ category.

The ā€˜Favorite Music Video’ category was won by Lil Nas X ā€œMONTERO (Call Me by Your Name), while Ed Sheeran took home the ā€˜Favorite Male Pop Artiste’ category and Taylor Swift took home the ā€˜Favorite Female Pop Artiste’ category amongst many other winners.

The award ceremony also featured a star-studded line-up of performances by Olivia Rodrigo, BTS with Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez, Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic and more.
