BIG WINNERS AT THE 2021 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

Big wigs of the American music industry were in attendance at the forty-ninth American Music Awards whichĀ held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The event which was hosted by American rapper Cardi B saw major wins for various artistes.

Some of the big winners on the night includes the Asian K-pop music group, BTS winning the biggest category of the night, āThe Artist of the Yearā, āFavorite Pop Duo or Groupā, and āFavorite Pop Songā for their smash hit, āButterā.

Doja Cat won three American Music Awards for āFavorite Female R&B Artistā, āFavorite R&B Albumā and āCollaboration of the Yearā, while Megan Thee Stallion won awards for āFavorite Female Hip Hop Artistā, āFavorite Hip Hop Albumā and āFavorite Trending Songā.


Pop newcomer Olivia Rodrigo had the most nominations at the event with seven nods but went home with one win in the coveted āNew Artist of the Yearā category.

The āFavorite Music Videoā category was won by Lil Nas X āMONTERO (Call Me by Your Name), while Ed Sheeran took home the āFavorite Male Pop Artisteā category and Taylor Swift took home the āFavorite Female Pop Artisteā category amongst many other winners.

The award ceremony also featured a star-studded line-up of performances by Olivia Rodrigo, BTS with Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez, Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic and more.
