From ‘Song of the year’, ‘Best African Collaboration’ to ‘African artiste of the year’, Man of the year, Wizkid bagged three awards at the just concluded All Africa Music Awards 2021.

All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) is an annual awards event established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union (AU) to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. Its pioneer Awards show was held in 2014.

Nigeria has hosted four of the award editions during 2014–2016-2017.  Nigeria once again won the fifth-year hosting rights tenure in 2021.

The event was held in Lagos on Sunday night at the EKO Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island Lagos.

Wizkid won the Artist of the Year Awards, Best African Collaboration for his song “Essence” featuring Tems and Song of The Year.

Notwithstanding, the greatest champ at the occasion was Iba One, a Malian vocalist, who won five awards.

Nigerian artiste, Fireboy DML also won the 2021 Afrima Awards ‘Africans Fan’s Favourite’.
