Tanzanian star, Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa aka Rayvanny made history on Sunday, November 14 after becoming the first African artist to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2021.

The musician sang alongside Colombian singer, Maluma where they performed their collaboration tagged,  Mama Tetema at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Budapest, Hungary.

Excited about his performance, Rayvanny wrote, “So honoured to be the first African artist to perform at @mtvema  Big thanks to my brother @maluma and the whole team king @luavision @clarapablo  #Newchui Global way Africa, East Africa,#Tanzania to the world  #Mamatetema”.

Reacting to Rayvanny’s record-breaking performance, fellow Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz penned a congratulatory message noting that he is proud of him and the steps he made in his music career.

 

“The first African artist to perform MTV EMAs. Niwakumbushe msanii wa kwanza Africa kuperform MTV EMAs anatokea Tanzania, mkoa wa Wasafi na sasa ni raisi wa Next Level Music,” he wrote.
