EFCC PRESENTS OVER FIFTY-ONE THOUSAND PAGE ANALYSIS OF NAIRA MARLEY’S PHONE

Still on the alleged fraud accusation levelled against Nigerian artiste Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday displayed before a Federal High Court in Lagos, a virtual projection of a Compact Disc with a fifty-one thousand nine hundred and thirty-three-page analysis of the rappers iPhone.

The anti-graft agency projected the exhibit, through its second witness, a forensic analyst, Augustine Anosike, who continued his evidence in the trial of the defendant, who is facing an eleven count charge, bordering on conspiracy, possession of counterfeit credit cards as well as fraud.

Augustine Anosike had earlier stated on Tuesday how different text messages and chats containing credit card details, were exchanged between the defendant, and someone named Yadd. He told the court that from the iPhone analysis, they discovered a total of nine hundred and seventy-seven Short Message Service (SMS) and one thousand four hundred and thirty-three chat messages, adding that there were also seven pending status update messages.
The CD containing all the analyzed messages was on display for about forty-five minutes and the court has also admitted as exhibits, the Forensic Report, the defendant’s iPhone, as well as the CD containing the full analysis and its print version.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo adjourned the trial until Nov. 30, Dec. 13, and Dec. 14.
If you would recall, Naira Marley pleaded not guilty to the eleven count fraud charge levelled against him in 2019, as the court had accordingly, granted him bail in the sum of two million Naira, with two sureties in like sum.
If found guilty, Naira Marley risks a sentence of not more than seven years and a refund of any stolen money or forfeiture of any property to which it has been converted.
