The family of Nigerian music legend Innocent “2baba” Idibia has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) after the singer went missing on February 10, 2025. The petition, signed by their legal representative Wilson Anuge, details concerns about 2baba’s sudden disappearance, which has left his family, friends, and fans alarmed.
According to Anuge, 2baba was last seen leaving his residence on the morning of February 10, dressed in loungewear, likely heading out for his usual walk. However, he has not returned home, and all attempts by his family, staff, and record label management to reach or locate him have failed.
“This disturbing situation, with no word from him for over 72 hours, has left his entire family deeply concerned,” Anuge stated. He emphasized that 2baba has never been known to disappear or abandon his commitments for such a long period, further raising concerns over his well-being.
The situation has grown more troubling with reports that several of 2baba’s close friends received messages from what appeared to be his social media accounts, soliciting financial help. Anuge expressed alarm over this, stating that 2baba is financially independent and has never required such assistance. This has led the family to suspect foul play, fearing that the singer may have been abducted or coerced, and his identity compromised for monetary exploitation.
With the possibility of abduction or manipulation looming, the Idibia family has urgently requested the DSS’s involvement. They’ve asked for the agency’s resources and expertise to locate and rescue 2baba, stressing the gravity of the situation.
“The victim is a legend in the Nigerian music industry, and his disappearance has traumatized his family, friends, and millions of fans,” Anuge wrote in the petition. “His absence has brought his music career to a standstill, and we urgently request your intervention to investigate and rescue him.”
Adding to the confusion, a viral video surfaced on Thursday showing 2baba proposing to Natasha Osaruwa, a lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly, just days after expressing his desire to marry her. This comes amid ongoing rumors that 2baba and his wife, Annie Idibia, are facing marital difficulties.
In a heartfelt plea, 2baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, released a video urging Nigerians to intervene and ask Natasha to release her son, noting that he has not been acting like himself recently. The family remains deeply concerned about 2baba’s safety and calls for immediate action to bring him home.
