Those lacking music knowledge are controlling the industry.
Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has raised concerns about the current state of the music industry, expressing frustration over the lack of genuine passion and understanding among those leading it. According to Gold, the industry is being dominated by individuals who are not truly invested in music and fail to appreciate the craft.
Gold argues that these leaders are pushing misleading narratives that prioritize mediocrity rather than real talent. He claims that, as a result, true artists and their work are being overlooked, while subpar content continues to thrive.
Taking to social media, the singer stated: “People who have no business leading music conversations are now controlling and destroying the industry. Artists, producers, and real contributors are being overshadowed by people who don’t create, don’t understand, and don’t respect the craft.”
He further emphasized that when the wrong people guide the conversation, it leads to the promotion of misguided values, leaving real talent undervalued. Gold’s message serves as a call to action for the industry to refocus on supporting and celebrating true artistry.
“Congratulations to everyone involved,” he concluded, acknowledging the challenges artists face in such an environment.
