Rising Nollywood actress and young entrepreneur, Adebowale Kehinde, also known as MassKennyD, has firmly stated that sex for roles should never be an option for any aspiring actress in the Nigerian film industry. In a candid interview with The Nation, the talented actress emphasized that such practices are not only inappropriate but also dangerous for anyone looking to make a name in the industry.

MassKennyD’s Stand on Sex for Roles in Nollywood

MassKennyD, a graduate of Accounting from the Esa-Oke College of Technology in Osun State, expressed her strong stance on the issue, saying, “It should never be an option for any aspiring actress in the industry, and it’s a dangerous path to tread.” Her bold statement highlights the importance of integrity and professionalism for anyone pursuing a career in Nollywood.

Fighting Against Bullying and Promoting Respect in Nollywood

In addition to speaking out against exploitation, MassKennyD shared her personal experiences with bullying in the industry. She revealed, “I have never liked the feeling of being bullied. This is something almost every last child can relate with. For this reason, I have a strong aversion to bullying.” The actress further explained how she handles difficult situations, saying, “I try not to overstep my boundaries so as not to create issues with senior colleagues because I like to fight for what’s right and just.” MassKennyD recounted an incident on set where she was spoken to rudely, but remained calm until a coordinator intervened to address the situation.

From Passion to Profession: MassKennyD’s Journey to Nollywood

MassKennyD’s journey into acting began early in life. She shared, “Right from when I was in primary school, I always enjoyed performing with the Drama & Cultural Group, and this continued even in secondary school.” After completing her O’Level education, she met Nollywood star Aunty Laide Bakare, who became a mentor to her. MassKennyD described how Aunty Laide took her under her wing, introducing her to the world of film sets, further fueling her passion for acting.

Though she did not have formal training at the time, MassKennyD was determined to learn and grow. “I shared my desire to be trained formally with her, then she took me to the late Dejo Tunfulu, who had an academy then,” MassKennyD recalled.

MassKennyD’s Nollywood Filmography and Upcoming Projects

MassKennyD has featured in several Nollywood movies, including Owo Ma Go, Inu Ji, Omoge Jemila, Ago Kan Oru, Omo Meji, Temilade Oniyepe, Secretary, Iwa, Akuko Oru, Itele, Oga Google, Kakaki, and Jomiloju. She is also working on her own production, Okinni, which is currently in development.

As she continues to build her career, MassKennyD remains a powerful voice for change in Nollywood, advocating for a safer, more respectful environment for all actors and actresses.
