Federal High Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Mercy Chinwo’s Manager Over $345,000 Royalties Dispute
A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an arrest warrant for Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the manager of popular Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. This follows a motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which accuses Onyedikachukwu of diverting $345,000 in royalties meant for Mercy Chinwo. The arrest warrant marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into financial misconduct within the Nigerian music industry.
EFCC Accuses Mercy Chinwo’s Manager of Financial Misconduct
The EFCC claims that Onyedikachukwu received royalties from Mercy Chinwo’s digital platforms and event performances but failed to disclose the earnings properly and did not pay the singer her rightful share. According to the commission’s investigator, Michael Idoko, Mercy Chinwo herself submitted a petition accusing her manager of financial mismanagement, which prompted the EFCC’s intervention.
As a result, the court granted the EFCC’s ex parte motion, and the case was adjourned until January 24, 2025, when Onyedikachukwu is expected to be arraigned. Should he fail to be located, the EFCC has stated they will issue a public summons, officially declaring him wanted.
Mercy Chinwo and Husband’s Charitable Acts in the Spotlight Amid Legal Drama
This legal issue comes at a time when Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have been in the public eye for their charitable acts in Rumudara village, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. While the singer’s charitable work has earned praise, this legal battle over her manager’s alleged financial misconduct is now capturing attention in the media.
As the case unfolds, the music industry and fans alike will be closely following the developments. If Onyedikachukwu is found guilty, it could lead to significant repercussions in both the gospel music scene and the broader Nigerian entertainment industry.
