Iconic music executive and record label owner, Kenny ‘Keke’ Ogungbe, also known as Baba Keke, recently shared the fascinating story of how he started working with the late music producer and artist, OJB Jezreel. Speaking as a guest on a podcast, Ogungbe revealed that he first became interested in OJB Jezreel after hearing a diss track that was produced against him.
In an insightful account, Ogungbe explained that he was initially drawn to OJB’s talent after hearing a diss song aimed at him. “There was a record that dissed me, and the person who produced it was OJB Jezreel,” he said. The beat of the diss track immediately caught Ogungbe’s attention. He further detailed how Chris Obosi at Cool FM pointed out that the record was directed at him, prompting Ogungbe to investigate further.
Despite the diss, Ogungbe was impressed with the quality of the production. When he discovered that OJB Jezreel had produced the track, he was eager to reach out. Ogungbe recalled, “I got home, found his number, and called him. I told him I had a new artist I wanted him to work with, and that’s how we created ‘African Queen’.”
