Bishop T.D. Jakes, the pastor of The Potter’s House, broke his silence after a health scare during Sunday’s live-streamed sermon. The 67-year-old cleric had to abruptly end his sermon when he began shaking uncontrollably, lowering his microphone mid-prayer.
However, just days after the incident, Jake reassured his supporters by sharing a video on his Instagram account. In the emotional video, he appeared seated in a wheelchair, wearing a green baseball cap and sunglasses. His message was one of gratitude, as he expressed thanks for his followers’ prayers, well wishes, and messages of support. “It didn’t have to end this good. I’m so grateful,” he said, visibly moved by the outpouring of love from his community.
Jakes also publicly thanked the healthcare team that assisted him during the crisis and acknowledged their role in his recovery. He extended his appreciation to everyone who prayed, sent texts, held prayer vigils, and offered support. “I’m just grateful,” he said, as tears welled in his eyes.
In his accompanying written statement, Jake reflected on the experience, emphasizing the profound privilege he feels in serving God’s people. Despite the toll on his body, he felt a strong sense of purpose in delivering God’s message, even in the face of his weakness. “Serving God’s people is an extraordinary privilege,” Jakes wrote.
“Even when I sensed the weight of my humanity, I pushed through, remembering that even the strongest must rely on His strength.”
Jakes reassured his followers that, despite the seriousness of the health scare, he was recovering well. He expressed deep gratitude for the support he had received. His reflections on divine strength and the power of prayer highlight his resilience, even in the face of adversity.
