Lil Wayne has seemingly responded to Kendrick Lamar’s mention in the song ‘Wacced Out Murals’ from Lamar’s new album, ‘GNX’.
On November 22, Kendrick surprised fans by releasing his sixth studio album, which delves into various intense topics.
One topic is Wayne’s feelings about the Super Bowl passing him over for the 2025 Halftime Show in his hometown of New Orleans.
In the opening track of ‘GNX’, Lamar raps, ‘Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.’ He references a video where Wayne expressed his disappointment at not headlining the Super Bowl in his city.
Lamar also reflects on his own experience, rapping, “Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me / All these n—-s agitated, I’m just glad they showin’ they face.” Following this, Wayne seems to have taken some time to process the lyrics before responding.
Then, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) early Saturday morning, he appeared to directly address Lamar’s reference.
Wayne wrote, “Man wtf I do?!”
“I just be chillin’, yet they still come for my head. Let’s not mistake kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep, I beg you all. No one wants destruction, not even me, but I shall destroy if disturbed.” On me. Love.”
Back in September, Wayne spoke about the pain he felt after the Super Bowl overlooked him for the halftime show. “That hurt. It hurt a lot,” he shared at the time. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown.”I thought nothing was better than that spot and stage in my city, so it hurt.” Then, in November, at his Lil WeezyAna Fest in New Orleans, Wayne told the crowd, “I worked my ass off for that position.” They ripped it away from me, but, despite that, this moment right here… they can’t take this away from me.”
