Nigerian singer Spyro, born Oluwadipe Oluwasanmi David, sharply responded to accusations that he is involved in ‘yahoo yahoo’ (internet fraud) after flaunting his new luxury car on social media. The Fine Girl hitmaker recently shared a photo of his new ride, and many fans congratulated him on the milestone. However, some critics who didn’t expect him to afford such an expensive vehicle quickly accused him of illegal dealings, labelling him a “Yahoo boy.”
In a fiery response, Spyro expressed his frustration with the situation. He pointed out that when other celebrities show off their wealth, people widely accept it, but when he does the same, others unfairly judge him.“If na my colleagues’ wey show off, nobody go talk. But when na me, una dey call me Yahoo boy?” he posted, addressing the hypocrisy surrounding his success.
The singer, who recently reconciled with Portable, clarified that he rarely flaunts his achievements but felt compelled to share this one to demonstrate that faith and hard work can bring success. “Jesus is loud, and He rewards those who seek Him,” Spyro wrote in his post. He also used the opportunity to encourage aspiring artists, telling them that it’s possible to remain true to God and still achieve success in the industry.
Spyro’s message was clear: he’s not afraid to celebrate his wins and he remains grounded in his faith, despite the negative comments. His powerful words serve as both a defence against the accusations and an inspiring message for those trying to make it in the music industry.
