Skales to Nigerian Police: ‘Stop Harassing Innocent Drivers
Written by MAX FM on October 28, 2024
Nigerian musician Skales has taken a stand against the Nigerian police, expressing his frustration with the excessive checkpoints on the roads, especially on Orchid Road. On October 28, 2024, he shared his thoughts on X, condemning what he perceives as the police’s misuse of power and their negative treatment of citizens.
Skales made it clear that he has strong feelings against the police, stating, “My hate for Nigerian police still stands. They are a terrible group of people. The police, who don’t have money, choose to stress other poor individuals, fully aware that their actions are wrong. They exploit the power given to them.”
He specifically pointed out the many checkpoints along Orchid Road, accusing the police of unfairly targeting drivers of luxury vehicles. “It seems they’ve only learned how to stop Benzes and bother young people until they beg for money. It’s disgraceful,” he wrote.
Skales questioned the legality of having so many checkpoints so close together, emphasizing that it’s not right. He noted that the police often ask luxury car drivers pointless questions and, when they don’t get the answers they want, resort to insults or begging for cash.
He called on the police to change their ways and mentioned that he might start filming their actions and sharing them online, as he is tired of the situation.
