A bitter online dispute has erupted between Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti and political activist Aisha Yesufu, with both trading harsh insults in videos that have gone viral.
The conflict began when Seun advised Aisha to remove her hijab if she wanted to advocate for the liberation of Nigerian women. In a fiery response, Aisha threatened to harm Seun and dismissed his music career as irrelevant.
In retaliation, Seun shared a story from a past encounter with Aisha on a TV show, claiming he had to endure her body odour for two hours. He accused her of belittling his success by comparing it to that of American music mogul Jay Z. Seun recounted, “I said the private sector should be held accountable for Nigeria’s economic issues. She replied I’m not a capitalist like Jay Z because I haven’t achieved the same level of success.”
Seun also mocked Aisha’s loyalty to former presidential candidate Peter Obi, asking when she would be accountable to his supporters, known as Obidients.
The feud has ignited a heated debate on social media, with many users calling for more respect and civility in public discourse.
