Timaya Reflects on Portable: “He Reminds Me of My Wild Side”

Nigerian singer Timaya recently shared why he admires the controversial artist Portable, pointing out their similar personalities.
In an interview with Channels Television, Timaya recounted discovering Portable’s music and feeling a connection to him. “That’s why I like Portable; he reminds me of myself. I was a wild guy,” he said.
He also talked about how his image has changed over time. While he’s now seen as ‘unproblematic,’ he admitted to having a wild side in his earlier days. “Gen Z doesn’t know me. I was crazy, like fire, but I’ve grown a lot since then,” he explained.
Timaya also addressed a rumour about a negative encounter with military personnel, declaring it untrue and stating, “It was all a strategy.”
