Ify’s Kitchen Reflects on 9-Year Infertility Journey and Parenthood

Ify’s Kitchen, a popular Nigerian food content creator, recently shared her deeply personal journey through nine years of infertility.

In an interview on the Terms and Conditions podcast, Ify discussed the emotional challenges and societal pressures she faced during her journey. Now, she is a proud mother of two: a boy and a girl.

Ify emphasized that many misunderstand IVF, urging doctors to clarify that it is not an immediate solution.

Reflecting on her experience, she explained, “The waiting period was incredibly difficult. You have no idea what the timeline looks like. It would be easier if someone told you it would take seven or eight years, but that uncertainty is tough.”

Initially, Ify and her husband planned to take their first year of marriage slowly and avoid starting a family.

However, by the second year, they began to feel anxious. “We thought it would be easy, but by then, we were questioning, ‘Isn’t this supposed to happen easily?’”

As time passed, the couple’s worry grew, taking a toll on Ify’s mental and emotional well-being. She recounted moments of despair, believing that God was against her. “It was really hard.

By the third year, I felt lost, especially when I heard stories of others having children after long waits,” she said.

Ify recalled a comment she saw online that resonated with her pain: “Those of you who give birth easily don’t know what God has done for you, God loves you.”

This sentiment made her feel even more isolated, leading her to question her worth. “That day, I cried at work and asked God what I had done to deserve this,” she shared.

Through her story, Ify hopes to raise awareness about the emotional struggles of infertility and encourage others who are facing similar challenges.
