Nicki Minaj has been making waves with her appreciation for Nigerian Pidgin English. The American rapper recently shared on social media that she’s using Ayra Starr’s hit song “Rush” to learn the language.

In a video posted on her social media accounts, Nicki Minaj demonstrated her enthusiasm for Pidgin English by practising new words from the popular Afrobeats track.

Her efforts caught the attention of Nigerian fans when she used Pidgin English in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where she described herself as a “Sabi Girl” from Ayra Starr’s lyrics.

In her post, Nicki Minaj joked about her experience with Pidgin, saying, “LMFAOOOO. Nigeria will not end me o! Sabi girl no Dey too like talk My words take the express elevator to the most high chi. I will show them pepper.”

Nicki Minaj’s fascination with Pidgin English is part of her broader engagement with Nigerian music. She previously teamed up with Afrobeats artist Davido on the track “Holy Ground” from his album *A Better Time*.
