Selena Gomez has opened up about a deeply personal struggle affecting her future family plans. The singer and actress shared that due to her ongoing battle with lupus, she is unable to carry her children. Despite this challenge, she remains hopeful and is considering surrogacy or adoption.
In a heartfelt interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez discussed her health condition, explaining, “I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my children.
I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”
Gomez described how this news has shifted her perspective on having a family. Though it wasn’t the path she initially envisioned, she has found peace with the situation.
“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. But I’m in a much better place with that.
I find it a blessing that wonderful people are willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,” she said.
Looking ahead, Gomez is optimistic about her journey to motherhood. She’s excited for the future, even though it may look different from what she had planned.
“I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,” she explained.
Gomez also touched on her personal life, noting that she was single for five years before meeting her current boyfriend. Her candid revelations underscore her resilience and hope as she navigates this new chapter.
