Victor Osimhen Joins Galatasaray on Loan: Fans Give a Warm Welcome

Galatasaray has signed Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli on a one-year loan deal. He will head back to Napoli next summer. Galatasaray will cover most of his wages and pay a small loan fee for the year.

Thousands of Galatasaray fans showed up at Istanbul Airport on Monday morning to welcome Osimhen. Despite arriving at 3:30 a.m., he was greeted with cheers and chants from excited supporters. It was a memorable welcome for the Super Eagles star as fans celebrated his arrival.

This move comes after a turbulent summer for Osimhen. Napoli’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna explained that Osimhen was dropped from the squad and his expected transfer to Chelsea fell through due to salary disagreements.

Osimhen had been trying to leave Napoli, missing pre-season games to push for an exit. When that didn’t work out, he had to stay with Napoli.

Napoli’s management was unhappy with how Osimhen handled the situation. They took away his number 9 jersey and gave it to Romelu Lukaku, and he was removed from first-team activities.

Manna stated, “We’ve made big moves, bringing in Lukaku and keeping Raspadori and Simeone. Victor wanted to leave, so we made other choices. While the transfer market is still open, I don’t think he’ll move to Saudi Arabia this window.”

Osimhen missed Napoli’s recent game against Parma, and it’s uncertain if he’ll play for them again this season. Victor Osimhen will undergo medical tests on Tuesday morning before joining Galatasaray’s Europa League squad.
