Nollywood actress Ekene Umenwa has joyfully announced the birth of her first child. On Monday, she took to Instagram to share stunning maternity photos where she honoured the Virgin Mary.
In her post, Ekene recreated the look of Mother Mary, expressing her deep gratitude and joy for the new addition to her family. She described her pregnancy as a beautiful journey and credited her faith for guiding her through it.
“I am truly blessed by the Lord’s mercy,” Ekene wrote. “My pregnancy journey was wonderful, and I’m grateful to the Blessed Trinity and Mother Mary for their support.
I felt inspired by a vision while praying, which led me to dress as Mother Mary. It brings me immense joy to honour her, even though I feel unworthy.”
Her Instagram post quickly filled with congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities. Destiny Etiko celebrated with, “God is awesome.
I don dance tire sis,” while Mercy Johnson wished her, “Many more blessings.” Other stars like Regina Daniels, Angela Okorie, Peggy Ovire, Ruth Kadiri, Stan Nze, and Chacha Eke also joined in with their warm wishes.
Last year, Ekene made headlines during her wedding when a video of her embracing and kneeling before gospel singer Moses Bliss went viral.
This sparked some criticism, but Ekene defended her actions, thanking Moses Bliss for being part of her special day and explaining the deeper meaning behind her gesture. Her husband also supported her, urging critics to respect their moments.
