Ramsey Nouah’s latest film, Tòkunbò, has made a splash on Netflix’s Top 10 chart in Nigeria. Released on August 23, 2024, by Ramsey Films Productions, the crime thriller has quickly captured viewers’ attention.
Tòkunbò is Nouah’s third feature film as a director. Nouah gained fame in 2010 by winning the AMAA for Best Actor for The Figurine.
His other notable works include End of the Wicked, Battle of Love, Power of Love, Blood Sisters, and Merry Men.
Nouah started his acting career in the early 1990s with the soap opera Fortunes and made his directorial debut in 2019 with Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.
This film received critical acclaim and won seven awards at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2020. He followed that success with Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, a remake of the 1995 classic Rattlesnake. In Tòkunbò, Nouah explores the intense world of crime.
The film centres on an ex-car smuggler who must deliver a government official’s daughter to her captor quickly, or his family will be in danger.
Tòkunbò, produced by Chris Odeh, boasts a strong cast including Gideon Okeke, Chidi Mokeme, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, and others.
This week, Netflix’s Top 10 also features Something Like Gold in the top spot, along with The Union and House of Ga’a.
