Omah Lay Accuses Fellow Afro-beats Artist of Stealing His Album Idea
Written by MAX FM on August 23, 2024
Nigerian Afrobeats star Omah Lay recently accused a fellow artist of stealing his album concept. Known for his debut album Boy Alone, featuring Justin Bieber and Tay Iwar, Omah Lay claimed a colleague pilfered his ideas.
On the Zach Sang podcast, Omah Lay explained that his 2023 hit “Holy Ghost” inspired his upcoming album. He was frustrated to find that a respected artist used the same concepts he had shared.
Omah Lay revealed that this trusted colleague released an album with very similar sounds and themes just five months later.
The betrayal left Omah Lay disheartened and forced him to rethink his approach. Despite the setback, he remains determined and is now working on what he promises will be “the greatest Afrobeats album of all time.”
To build anticipation for his next project, tentatively titled Clarity of Mind, Omah Lay has dropped a new single, “Moving.” The track has already generated buzz and is expected to be a major hit.
Omah Lay’s resilience and creativity will shine through despite these challenges. Fans can eagerly anticipate his next big project.
