Written by on August 21, 2024

Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has just achieved a new milestone, setting the record for the longest gap between No. 1 songs on TurnTable Top 100, Nigeria’s leading music chart. His latest single, MMS by Asake featuring Wizkid, has hit the top spot, marking his second No. 1 song in Nigeria.

MMS, from Asake’s newly released album Lungu Boy, ended a hiatus of 3 years, 9 months, and 12 days since Wizkid last topped the chart with Ginger, his collaboration with Burna Boy. This impressive span surpasses the previous record of 1 year, 10 months, and 16 days held by Omah Lay.

The Grammy-winning artist is also gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Morayo, named in honour of his late mother.

In December 2023, Wizkid released the second instalment of his Soundman EP. As he begins 2024, he has made notable guest appearances on DJ Tunez’s Apala Disco, Shenseea’s Work Me Out, and, of course, Asake’s MMS.
