Fans of Nigerian singer Tekno can breathe easy after the artist took to social media to dispel rumors of his collapse during a performance in South Africa.
Tekno set the record straight late on August 20, 2024, clarifying that he was not even in South Africa as previously reported.
In a series of Instagram posts, Tekno assured his followers of his good health and provided proof of his location. He wrote, “Hey guys, I’m hale and hearty and not currently in South Africa. I hope whoever that was in the video is doing well and ok. Thank you, guys. Love you.”
The singer’s fans quickly responded with relief in the comments section. One fan expressed their comfort, saying, “Thank God, I feel better now.”
Another user questioned the source of the fake news, while a third commenter noted Tekno’s actual location in Equatorial Guinea, adding, “You dey Equatorial Guinea dey chop the peaceful good life! Mad people dey one corner dey post shit.”
Earlier in the day, Nigerian artist Mr Eazi also refuted the false reports, confirming that Tekno was actually in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, not South Africa. He humorously wrote, “Lmao Tekno wey dey Malabo.”
On X (formerly Twitter), users supported the claim that the viral video did not feature Tekno. Comments clarified that the person in the video was Prezzo, a Kenyan rapper who had appeared on Big Brother Africa.
“For the record, guys, that’s not Tekno. The person in that video is Prezzo from Kenya,” one user wrote, while another added, “This is an old video of Prezzo. Check YouTube, you’ll see. Not Tekno, please.”
With the truth now out, Tekno’s fans can rest easy knowing that their favorite artist is in good health and enjoying life in Equatorial Guinea.
