Uptown Disco’ Video Released: Olamide, Asake, and Fireboy Shine Together

Olamide has just released the vibrant music video for his popular single “Uptown Disco,” featuring Asake and Fireboy. The track is part of his newest project, “Ikigai,” a Japanese term meaning “reason for being” or “life’s purpose.”

The EP “Ikigai” showcases Olamide’s collaboration with YBNL stars, including Fireboy and Asake on “Uptown Disco,” and reunites him with former YBNL artists Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh on another track, “Synchro System.”

Released on August 14, 2024, the video for “Uptown Disco” was shot in the U.S. by renowned director Jyde Ajala, known for his work with Olamide, Asake, and Adekunle Gold.

In the video, Fireboy engages in an exhilarating chase with the police, portraying the high-energy lifestyle of a superstar.

Meanwhile, Olamide and Asake deliver vibrant performances against a backdrop of colourful dancers and lively visuals. Since its launch on June 10, 2024, “Ikigai” has received a warm reception. The lead single “Metaverse” hit the top 10 on the TurnTable Top 100 charts.

The surprise EP, released after Olamide hinted at retirement, has quickly become one of 2024’s most streamed projects, gathering 7.92 million streams in its first week.
