Davido’s ‘Ogechi Remix’ Removed from YouTube for Copyright Problems

Written by on August 13, 2024

Nigerian music star Davido faces a copyright issue on YouTube. The platform recently removed the video for his wedding song, “Ogechi Remix.”

BoyPee, Hyce, and Brown Joel feature in this song, which they released on June 25, 2024, to celebrate Davido’s wedding. The video, which came out on July 19, 2024, highlighted Davido’s love for his wife, Chioma, and her Igbo heritage. Fans are puzzled because the song’s YouTube page doesn’t credit Davido as the official artist. It seems another artist created the original “Ogechi” before the remix.

Although you can still find the song’s audio on BoyPee’s YouTube channel, the video with Davido is no longer available.

The removal has sparked a lot of online chatter. Davido’s team hasn’t yet responded to the issue, leaving fans and music industry watchers eager for updates.

BoyPee, one of the featured artists, has denied claims that Davido tried to take all the royalties. On his X page, BoyPee challenged these rumours, asking why anyone would spread such false information and questioning their motives.

Due to copyright problems, the song that Brown Joel, Hyce, and BoyPee own was removed. BoyPee’s strong denial has shifted attention to those spreading rumours.

This controversy has sparked a debate about copyright and royalties in the music world. As the situation unfolds, fans and industry insiders are waiting to see how it will resolve.
