Céline Dion, the renowned Canadian singer, recently spoke out against the unauthorized use of her song at a Trump/Vance rally.
Dion’s management team issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) declaring that they did not approve the use of “My Heart Will Go On” at the rally held in Montana on Friday.
Dion’s team made it clear that she did not endorse the rally or the use of her song. The statement ended with a comment that many found amusing on social media: “… And really, that song?”Online users pointed out the irony of using Dion’s song, which was the theme for the movie Titanic, at a rally. Some questioned whether Trump’s campaign might be facing difficulties, especially as recent polls show him trailing behind Kamala Harris in crucial battleground states.
Dion had previously refused to perform at Trump’s inauguration in 2016. This news comes as Dion, 56, re-emerges after her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome (SPS).
She recently performed at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics and shared her health struggles in an Instagram video from December 2022.
Dion explained that she has faced severe muscle spasms due to SPS, a rare and progressive condition that affects fewer than 5,000 people in the U.S. The documentary “I Am: Celine Dion,” which explores her journey with SPS, premiered earlier this summer.
