He avoids putting their songs out on the same day as Wizkid or Asake. Don Jazzy said it’s risky because these artists are very popular now, especially with streaming music.

He explained that Wizkid and Asake’s releases get a lot of attention.

If Mavin artists release music on the same day, their songs might not get noticed much. To avoid this, Don Jazzy decided to change Mavin Records’ usual Friday release day to Wednesdays or Thursdays.

This way, they can avoid competing directly with Wizkid and Asake.

“We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song].

“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.” Don Jazzy

Mavin Records has talented artists like Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, and others.
