President Bola Tinubu recently extended his congratulations to Dr Fola David for achieving a remarkable feat: setting the Guinness World Record for the largest hand drawing by an individual.
Through a post on Instagram, President Tinubu expressed pride and admiration for Dr. David’s accomplishment with the artwork titled ‘Unity in Diversity’.
In response to the president’s message, Dr. David graciously thanked him on his Instagram page, emphasizing the significance of the recognition.
This interaction underscores the president’s acknowledgement of Dr. David’s outstanding achievement, highlighting Nigerian talent and creativity on a global scale.
Meanwhile, Dr. Fola David, a dedicated Nigerian doctor and visual artist, made history at Onikan Stadium in Lagos. Commencing on July 16, Dr. David embarked on a monumental task: creating a colossal drawing that vividly portrays Nigeria’s diverse cultural fabric.
His ambition surpassed the previous Guinness World Record of 629.98 m² (6781.04 ft²), set by India’s Ravi Soni. Dr. David’s artwork spans an impressive 1050 square meters, surpassing even his own ambitious goal of 1000 square meters.
Throughout the six-day endeavour, Dr. David received overwhelming support from various prominent figures, including former presidential candidate Peter Obi, celebrated chef Hilda Baci, and businessman Farooq Oreagba. The College of Medicine, University of Lagos, where Dr. David studied, also demonstrated strong solidarity.
The attempt concluded on July 21, pending confirmation from Guinness World Records. This historic achievement not only showcases Dr. David’s artistic prowess but also celebrates Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and the support of its community.
