Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice announced at a press conference in Lagos that the show will commence on July 28.
Tejumola highlighted that this season, spanning 71 days will be filled with excitement and drama. “The ninth season of Big Brother Naija will offer a variety of unique entertainment experiences,” she explained. “The show will air from July 28 to October 6.
“This season introduces a challenging twist where housemates will enter in pairs and tackle house challenges together. “For those curious about the theme, tune in to the premiere on Sunday, July 28.
The show promises fun, vibes, emotions, drama, dynamics, and intriguing twists,” she added. Additionally, Toke Makinwa will host Big Brother Naija Buzz, providing behind-the-scenes coverage for fans of the show.
Moreover, she will offer exclusive insights into the contestants’ daily lives and activities within the house.
“The pool and Saturday night parties will continue, and the show will broadcast 24/7,” she concluded. Tope Oshunkeye, MultiChoice’s Head of Marketing, unveiled interactive games for viewers during the season.
Among them, “Lock-in” allows viewers to predict immunity challenge winners, with correct predictions earning viewers N1 million each.
Oshunkeye noted that viewers won N120 million during the last edition. The new season runs from July 28 to October 6, 2024, with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu returning as host.
John Ugbe, CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, defended the unequal screen time among housemates, citing it as inevitable in entertainment.
“It’s not feasible to give equal time to all housemates,” he told Pulse Nigeria. “We aim to capture the most engaging activities. Authenticity is crucial, and many successful housemates have thrived by being themselves,” he added.
