Chima Udoye Is the New Nigerian Idol Champ, Wins ₦30 Million

The ninth season of Nigerian Idol began on May 26, 2024, with 9 contestants competing for the top prize of ₦30 million, a new SUV, DStv Explora, and a one-year premium subscription.

After months of competition among Nigeria’s top performers and singers auditioning for this season, Chima Udoye emerged as the winner.

The finale took place on July 14, 2024. Chima is known for his stage presence and impressive singing skills.

The live shows kicked off with the top 10 contestants performing John Legend’s “Glory”. Special performances included past winners like Progress from Season 7 and Victory Gbakara from Season 8. Guest artists like Chike and Simi also graced the stage. Ultimately, they crowned Chima the winner.

Chima’s captivating performances throughout the season, particularly in jazz and soul music, impressed judges 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani. Consequently, during the finale, Omawumi noted that Chima was competing with himself, thereby showcasing his growth and talent beyond the competition’s boundaries.

Chima received a cash prize of ₦30 million, a new SUV, DStv Explora, a one-year premium subscription, and a music deal with a music video opportunity as part of his grand prize.
