Seyi Vibez, born Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi on July 12, 2000, has firmly established himself as a prominent Nigerian singer and songwriter. Known for his breakout single “Chance (Na Ham)” from the album Billion Dollar Baby, Seyi Vibez continues to make waves with his latest EP, ‘NAHAMciaga’, which has emerged as the most streamed project in Nigeria during the first half of 2024.
According to data from TurnTable Charts, Seyi Vibez’s ‘NAHAMciaga’ EP achieved an impressive 91,000 units in sales across all major platforms—Apple Music, Spotify, Boomplay, Audiomack, and YouTube—solidifying its position as the top-streamed album of the year’s opening months.
The Nigerian music scene in early 2024 has seen several albums gain both commercial success and critical acclaim, positioning them as early favourites for the coveted Album of the Year accolade. Following Seyi Vibez’s lead, Kizz Daniel‘s ‘Thankz Alot (TZA)’ EP secured the second spot with 78,000 units, fueled by hits like ‘Twe Twe’, ‘Too Busy To Be Bae’, and ‘Sooner’. Shallipopi‘s debut album ‘Presido La Pluto’ ranked third with 73,000 units, while Odumodublvck’s ‘Eziokwu’ followed closely with 68,000 units, and Asake’s ‘Work of Art’ rounded out the top five with 59,000 units.
Notably, Wizkid reaffirmed his status as one of Nigeria’s most streamed artists with his concise EP ‘S2’, capturing the eighth position with 39,000 streams despite its compact tracklist. Among the top ten albums, Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi stood out as the only artists with two projects, underscoring their prolific output and enduring popularity.
Seyi Vibez’s collaborative effort with Vibez INC, ‘Vibez Incorporation Mixtape, Vol. 1’, secured the ninth spot with 38,000 units, while Shallipopi’s sophomore album ‘Shakespopi’ rounded off the list at number ten with 35,000 units.
As the year progresses, Seyi Vibez’s ‘NAHAMciaga’ and the other top contenders continue to shape the landscape of Nigerian music, setting high expectations for what’s to come in the second half of 2024.
