JUSSIE SMOLLETT FOUND GUILTY OF STAGING FAKE HATE CRIME

Written by on December 15, 2021

American actor and singer Jussie Smollett has been found guilty of staging a hate crime against himself and lying to the police back in 2019.

According to the jury, the Empire star was found guilty of five of the six felony disorderly counts levelled against him after nine hours of deliberation, as he was acquitted on count six.
Chicago Tribune now reports that the convictions are class four felonies that could carry a three-year sentence and a twenty-five thousand dollars fine, but Jussie Smollett may not serve any jail time and may receive probation since he doesn’t have any priors, while his sentencing will be at a later date.

If you recall, Jussie attempted to get the case dismissed in October because he had already made a deal in Cook County to drop the charges. The deal included community service and a forfeited ten thousand dollars’ bond, but the request was denied.
All of this is coming after the actor was reportedly attacked by two men in what looks like a homophobic attack back in January 2019.
Two Nigerians, the Osundairo brothers were later named in the alleged attack on Smollett, while investigations and prosecutors argued that the attack was staged to boost his career.
